Experience and Background

Michael D. Friedman is Of Counsel to the New York office. He began his legal career in 1974 practicing law in Taiwan with a firm which became the Taiwan affiliate of Baker & McKenzie. Upon his return to New York City in 1977, he practiced with several major New York firms specializing in corporate, securities, project finance and real estate transactions. He joined Shiboleth in 1988, bringing his years of experience in complex domestic and international corporate, commercial and real estate transactions.

Mike has represented clients in a wide variety of domestic and international commercial and real estate transactions, including the acquisition and disposition of privately held businesses; domestic and international joint ventures; off-shore construction contracts; acquisition of shopping centers and office buildings; hotel management agreements; loan and venture capital transactions; and employment, shareholder, partnership and limited liability company agreements. Mike is an active commercial arbitrator under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association and a member of its Roster of Commercial Arbitrators. He has acted as sole arbitrator and as chairman and/or member of arbitration panels in over 135 cases involving, among other things, disputes among partners and/or shareholders in business and professional relationships, professional sports relationships, scope of insurance coverage, contract interpretation, and claims arising out of acquisition and/or merger transactions, securities transactions, franchises, and commercial real estate deals.

Mike is a member of the New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the American Society of International Law.
